Even though you want to make sure that your web site can be found by using the search engines, you cannot depend on the search engines to be the only way to get people to your web site.  It does take some time before you site will even start to get high placement on the search engines.  Professionals on search engine optimization even refer to the “Google Sandbox”, the mythological place where newer web sites have to wait (for up to 6 months) before Google even starts finding your site.  Then you have to consider that you will be fighting for first page placement on your search engine terms with sites that are very established.  That have lots of people visiting their sites and site popularity is one of the things that the search engines consider when ranking sites.

So it is up to you to drive people to your sites!  You need to place your web site name in all the marketing you do.  On your business cards.  In your advertising.  In the marketing for your listings.  In your information items.  Everything!
